When I began my journey some 14 years ago, it was to fulfill a promise: a promise to find the truth. At that stage, I didn't know what truth I was looking for, except perhaps a formal birth certificate and, somewhat naively, some names, an extended family tree, and anecdotes of past lives and dreams. Little did I realise that the discovery of that birth certificate would lead me on a journey to uncover shocking truths about my own flesh and blood, my identity, and our hidden family history in Ireland.
