His non-fiction book took 14 years to research and presents to the Irish diaspora, the personal stories of 4 remarkable individuals, trapped within the secrets and incarceration that flowed from the Tuam Mother and Baby Home and the infamous High Park Magdalene Laundry in Dublin. The book provides an historical insight into Ireland’s Institutions along with important archival and personal references.

Since its launch, ‘A Magdalene Rose’ has enjoyed the success of its story reaching not just across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, but into the USA, France, Australia and New Zealand. The book remains very much in demand and brings one family’s experience into the homes of many other families.

The author is now looking forward to the next 12 months and building upon the success, not just of interest and sales, but of creating new dialogues and contact with many people around the world.

Frank Brehany states:

“Since the launch of my book, I have received nearly 600 letters, e mails and messages from around the world, reaching into the world of 4 remarkable people. As I have discovered, many are on their own journeys of discovery, often approaching the road that I know that lies ahead of them, with some trepidation”.

He adds:

“I have personally responded to each and every message and from some of those engagements, remarkably, my own knowledge about the Breheny’s and of the Cleary’s has expanded even further, receiving information, stories, some sad, others happy, but best of all, photographs of the Cleary clan I long believed that I would never find”.

He concludes:

“I am genuinely surprised by my book’s reach around the world and can say that this past year has been not just a wonderful moment for this story, but of a fantastic journey of discovery for me. As the book continues to attract interest and sales, I am looking forward to the next 12 months to build on the success of interest in four remarkable people; it is a story whose time has most certainly come. I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have purchased my book, but also to those around the world who have contacted me to share their own stories or to express their support or interest in mine”.
